UN YOUTH DELEGATE
PROGRAM
The United Nations provides the opportunity for Member States to have Youth Delegates. This means that a young person from a member state can be one of the country’s representatives as part of the delegation of that country for a limited time (usually one year) to represent the voice of the youth of that country. This person would be able to join events in the New York HQ such as the General Assembly and the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development with an official delegate badge. With CUUNA we are taking the lead in advocating for the establishment of a UN Youth Delegate Program for the United Kingdom, and to give the CUUNA membership access to it.

OUR OXBRIDGE PARTNERSHIP
We have a strong and positive relationship with our Oxford counterparts, the Oxford University United Nations Association (OUUNA). As part of this, we are aiming to organise formal exchanges, reciprocally invite each other to events, and collaborate on projects, speakers, training, and joint events.

This partnership also forms the base of our outreach and collaboration program with other UNAs across the United Kingdom, with whose help we hope to set up the UN Youth Delegate Program in the UK.

UNA-UK
YOUTH WING
The United Nations Association of the United Kingdom is our national UNA, representing the UNA ecosystem of our country. We aim to establish a national UNA-UK Youth Committee, where the youth of different UNAs from all over the UK can unite and join efforts on matters such as the UN Youth Delegate Program, international projects and SDG ambassadorship. Our aim is to connect all Youth UNAs and give us a voice at the national UNA-UK board. CUUNA is currently leading efforts towards the establishment of a UNA-UK Youth network.
WFUNA
CUUNA is a member of the World Federation of United Nations Associations, which is the international UNA based at the UN HQ in New York. CUUNA aims to provide CUUNA membership with access to WFUNA projects and the UN, inform CUUNA membership about global opportunities through WFUNA, strengthen and maintain contact with WFUNA through projects and liaison work, and collaborate in the WFUNA Youth Network.

GOALS

We are strongly committed to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also referred to as Agenda 2030. Throughout our community and our events, we try to disseminate information about the SDGs, implement action plans within our society, and help increase involvement in UN SDG processes. Two of our long-term goals are:

-
SDG Ambassador Program: establishing an SDG Ambassador that actively promotes the SDGs within Cambridge and its societies, and has a significant role in both the City Council, and the University Council to monitor and promote SDG progress.

-
Contribution to VNRs: to review the process on the SDGs, the Voluntary National Review (VNR) system was introduced. Every country should have at least one SDG committee which monitors the progress on each of the goals, and on a regular basis a country should submit a VNR, which is an overview of the progress. We aim to contribute to the VNRs with CUUNA and facilitate access to the SDG committees.
